Throughout the Year of Youth, we will be hosting monthly webinars for Year of Youth contacts, ambassadors, leaders, advocates and all leaders of youth ministry and those who work with young people. Each webinar will explore a different topic and will be an opportunity for personal formation, professional development, planning or sharing with others around the country to assist in your local response to the Year of Youth.

What is a Webinar?

A webinar is a ‘seminar’ that is held on the internet in real-time and attended exclusively by an online audience. In this way, it is different to a webcast which can have some members physically present. A webinar is held completely online for all participants, guest speakers and presenters.

Webinars are cost and time effective with many of the same benefits as meeting physically. A great feature of webinars is that they include interactive elements and an ability to share information and discuss ideas from across the country in real-time.

What do I need?

Yourself and access to the internet! You can participate from your tablet or phone if need be, however for the best experience we recommend using your laptop or desktop computer. To ensure an uninterrupted connection, make sure you have good internet access and shut down other programs on your computer as may interfere with your internet connection. Make sure the speakers on your device are switched on and turned up, so you can hear us.

For the best experience, you may want to plug in your headphones. You can participate without them, but you will receive a better sound quality with them. If they have a microphone you can use this as appropriate throughout the webinar, if you wish. Headphones and mic that you use with your phone are adequate.

You do not need to download any software or applications to participate. When you register we will send you a link in an e-mail and then when the time comes for the webinar to take place you simply need to follow the link.


This is a FREE event and you can participate from the comfort of your home, office, on the move, with your team or support network, or on-the-go. You just need to have a device with access to the internet.


You do need to register to reserve your spot for the webinar. You will need to register in order for a link to be sent to you to access the webinar. Please see information on the individual webinar to register.

How to prepare for a webinar

  • Sign in 5 – 10 minutes early to ensure you don’t have any troubles signing in and everything is working
  • Make sure your computer speakers are turned on, and the sound level is up
  • Turn off any other programs running in the background of your computer (avoids interruption to internet connection)
  • Shut down, or turn off notifications, for e-mails or IM systems
  • Use earphones if you have them and you’re not sharing a computer. This will give the best quality sound.
  • If you have earphones with a built-in mic (like ones you use with your phone) that’s even better – but if you don’t have any, don’t worry!
  • When you have signed in, the sound is working, and you’ve said hello…grab a drink and you’re ready to go!!
